FAQs
Your puppy will have its 1st and 2nd vaccinations by 10 weeks old. A Havanese puppy can go home anytime after that, while a Biewer Terrier puppy will be ready once it weighs over 2 pounds.
We breed according to the AKC standard. Generally, a full-grown Havanese will weigh between 8 and 14 lbs, while a Biewer Terrier will weigh between 4 and 8 lbs. There can be exceptions, of course.
At 11 weeks of age, puppies are too young to be house broken. However, they are trained to use a litter pan potty tray that you can put newspaper or potty pads in for them to potty on. Dogs naturally don't want to soil their living area and as they get older the bladder/bowel control increases.
Yes, we follow Dr. Dodd’s puppy vaccination protocol. Your puppy will receive its 1st vaccination at 7 weeks and the 2nd at 10 weeks. Your vet will handle the remaining vaccinations.
No, these vaccines have been known to cause death in the small breed pups. We recommend that you wait until puppy is one year old before giving Lepto or Lyme vaccinations.
All of our dogs are pure bred and registered with the American Kennel Club. All litters are registered and you will receive the puppy registration application.
We generally retire our breeding between the ages of 5 and 6. On occasion, we will have retirees available. Please see our “Retired Dogs” link for availability.
Yes, your puppy will be crate trained. Meaning, they know their crate is their quiet place…where they can sleep and rest. They will not fight being placed it their crate. Crate time is not a punishment.

Yes, you will pick your puppy up in our home where their parents also live. On occasion, we will use an outside stud dog, but the mother will always be available to meet.

Yes, before even being considered for breeding, each of our dogs are OFA/DNA health tested. You can verify all of our health testing results directly on the OFA website.
We have been involved with dogs since 1986.
Our puppies are well socialized within the house, being handled daily by family and friends. In addition, they have been exposed to other dogs in our home. We desensitize them to the activities of daily home living. Including weekly grooming to keep them clean.
Yes, you will need to sign a puppy purchase agreement agreeing to spay or neuter your puppy at one year old. Breeding is not allowed unless we have specific terms for showing the puppy until it achieves AKC Championship status.
Absolutely! We are here for you throughout your puppy's life. Feel free to reach out by phone, text, or email. We love receiving updates and photos of our beloved puppies.
Havanese & Biewer Terriers are non-shedding and considered great hypoallergenic dogs. Correct coat types with hair not fur is the key to hypoallergenic dogs. We have placed many puppies with families allergic to dog dander.
